Back in the late 90's when UK Garage was at it's zenith, DJ Jabz was a regular on Charge 90.8 FM. Charge was THE local pirate radio station, prescribing a wholesome daily dose of House, Garage and Drum & Bass. There was always a plethora of MC's cluttering up 'the studio' which could be anything from a disused warehouse to somebody's squat. Most MC's love the sound of their own voice too much. They'd queue up and fight for the mic to chat over whatever was playing but rarely gave the music a chance to shine through. Jabz would piss them off by playing mostly vocal tunes.
There were a lot of bootleg white labels that never saw a release and Promo 12"s with no info. The Nutty Dread Promo is the Gimme Luvin EP and I've listed the vocal tune where I recognise it but these are mostly abused acappellas. I think Kele Le Roc is the 10ยบ Below Vocal Mix. This was the first of many mixes made available down at Sound Zone or stall on the market. It probably helped to finance the next box of vinyl. An expensive business and pirate radio doesn't pay. I don't have any of these nowadays but found this one in a collection of second hand CD's. There were much better mixes but this is a little slice of Garage history so I thought it should be available. Enjoy!
